On 10 March 2021, the European Court of Human Rights issued judgment in the case of Hudorovič and Others v. Slovenia. The Court accepted for the first time that positive obligations under Article 8 of the ECHR can be triggered by persistent and long-standing lack of access to safe-drinking water. The applicants were represented by L. Cariolou (through the European Human Rights Law Institute) and the Slovenian lawyer N. Zidar Klemenčič.
